
Waterfall Country
This area is amongst the most beautiful and popular parts of the National Park. Here the rivers Mellte, Hepste, Pyrddin and Nedd-fechan wind their way down deep, tree-lined gorges, over a series of dramatic waterfalls, before joining to form the River Neath. There wonderful walks and trails available here...

Walking in the Beacons
A perennial favourite with all our visitors, the renowned peaks of Corn Du, Pen y Fan and Cribyn attract hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and it’s not hard to see why. On a clear day the views from the top are breathtaking.

Riding & Trekking
The Brecon Beacons is a perfect place for horse lovers. There are over 600 miles of bridle paths and tracks. The spectacular scenery and wealth of wildlife create some of the best riding in Europe. Riding and trekking centres are working together to offer top quality trekking, short rides and pony trekking.

Golf
Right on your doorstep is the wonderful championship course at Cradoc. There are other lovely courses in the area at Glynneath, Neath, Builth, Llandrindod Wells and several in around Swansea and the Gower. Ryder Cup host Celtic Manor, historic St Pierre and the Vale of Glamorgan golf complex are only an hour or so away.

Watersports
The area offers an array range of options for paddlesports, from the tranquillity of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and Llangorse Lake to extreme kayaking over jaw-dropping waterfalls. With waters graded from from Grade 1 (easy) up to Grade 6 (extremely hard), there really is something for everyone!.

Dark Skies
Did you know that the Brecon Beacons has some of the darkest night skies in the country? Here, you can experience the awe-inspiring view of the Milky Way amongst other wonders of the night sky. The whole of the National Park has been declared an International Dark Sky Reserve.

Other Places to Visit
The area is a treasure trove of historical sites with over a dozen castles to visit - Carreg Cennen at Trapp (pictured above) is definitely worth a visit! More locally, there is a castle in Brecon and at Bronllys, Crickhowell, Cyfarthfa nr Merthyr, Hay on Wye, Llandovery and Tretower. Trips to Big Pit in Blaenavon or a ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway are a must...

Penderyn Distillery
Take a Distillery Tour to learn about the founding of Penderyn, how their award-winning whisky is made and what makes Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky so unique. See the exhibition area, mill, mash tun, innovative single copper pot stills. Enjoy a couple of tasters in the Tasting Bar afterwards!

Events, Shows and Festivals
There are Agricultural shows a plenty to enjoy during the summer months with the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells being the jewel in the crown. The hugely popular Green Man Music Festival is held at Glanusk near Crickhowell and other festivals include the world famous Hay Literature Festival, which is only an hour down the road.

Food and Drink
The area has a superb selection of places to eat and drink, from beautiful restaurants and cafés to the most perfect pubs, where you can enjoy local food and drink next to a roaring log fire. Local produce and good home cooked food means you will find something that will appeal to everyone's taste buds.
